BYU WR Gunner Romney Expected To Be Available Against Arkansas

PROVO, Utah – BYU wide receiver Gunner Romney left the Notre Dame game last Saturday on a medical cart.
Romney entered BYU’s medical tent after a late third-quarter catch against the Irish. Then after a visit to the tent, he was carted off. BYUtv’s Spencer Linton reported that Romney was driven to the team bus area after being carted off the field.
#BYU assistant head coach Ed Lamb on Coordinators' Corner said that Gunner Romney's hospital visit was precautionary.
Head Coach Kalani Sitake said that Romney didn't stay at the hospital over night.

It was a significant injury detail as Romney was returning from a lacerated kidney injury that he suffered during the first week of fall camp.
On Monday, BYU coaches provided positive updates on their fifth-year senior receiver.
“Gunner got banged up, and because of his previous injury, there’s more caution that happens as far as the sports medicine goes,” said BYU head coach Kalani Sitake during his Monday press conference. “So we had to take some caution, do some tests, and then released him. So he didn’t spend the night at the hospital. He was released with his family after we ran some tests and was cleared of all of that.”

The most significant piece of information from Sitake was that he expects Romney to be available on Saturday for the 1:30 p.m. matchup against the Arkansas Razorbacks.
“He’s banged up, but we’re looking forward to him being ready for us this week,” Sitake said.
BYU assistant head coach Ed Lamb during the Coordinators’ Corner, was also asked about Romney’s situation.
“Yeah, we fully expect him to [be available this week],” said Lamb. “It was just a precautionary measure to make sure that his previous injury didn’t reoccur, and it did not. So I think he’s good to go.”
Romney has hauled in five receptions for 59 yards in two game appearances this season. He’s also had one rushing attempt for two yards.
