Cowboys’ Offense Clicks In Second Half For Win Over Giants

SALT LAKE CITY – The Dallas Cowboys found their offense during the second half on their way to defeating a division rival on Monday Night Football.

The New York Giants hosted the Cowboys on Monday, September 26.

Dallas beat New York, 23-16.

The first 30 minutes of the contest were a low-scoring affair the went to halftime with Dallas owning a 6-3 lead.

At one point in the game, both teams had made a pair of field goals while missing one apiece.

However, in the second half, both offenses found the end zone during the final 21 minutes of action. New York appeared to be on its way to a 3-0 start after Saquon Barkley broke loose for a 36-yard score to give the Giants a 13-6 advantage with 5:31 left in the third quarter. Then Dallas running back Ezekiel Elliott tied the game with 27 seconds remaining before the final quarter.

Cowboys quarterback Cooper Rush got things rolling during the opening minutes of the fourth quarter and led back-to-back scoring drives to give Dallas a 10-point lead.

The Giants managed to connect on another field goal to cut their deficit to one-score. However, Dallas’ Trevon Diggs picked off Giants quarterback Daniel Jones in the final minute to seal a Cowboys victory.

Rush finished the game 21/31 passing for 215 yards and a touchdown. Dallas’ Elliott and Tony Pollard combined for 178 rushing yards and a score on the ground. Barkley led the Giants with 14 carries for 81 yards and a touchdown. He was also New York’s second-leading receiver with four receptions for 45 yards.

With win, the Cowboys improved their record to 2-1 on the season. The Giants fell to 2-1 with the loss.

Dallas owns a 10-1 record against New York since 2017.
