Utah Jazz Thank Donovan Mitchell Following Trade To Cavaliers

SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah Jazz posted a message of gratitude for Donovan Mitchell and his five seasons in the Beehive State a couple of days after the three-time All-Star was traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers.

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski first reported Mitchell’s move to Cleveland on September 1.

Two days later, the Jazz thanked Mitchell for his impact of the organization and community.

“We got to watch you light up the league as a rookie and cheer you on as you became a perennial All-Star. We witnessed you embrace and serve our community while standing for what’s right and uniting Jazz fans everywhere. Thank you for all the good you did here @spidadmitchell.”

“There will always be Donovan Mitchell fans in Utah. Once a Jazzman, always a Jazzman,” the Jazz shared in a second tweet.

A day after the deal and a day before the Jazz’s message, Mitchell posted on Instagram and thanked Jazz Nation and Quin Snyder for their support over the past five seasons.

“Thank you for the memories and the incredible times… you guys watched me grow up on and off the floor,” Mitchell wrote. “Coach Quin thank you for giving me the opportunity and trusting me to lead this team for the past 5 years‼️”

Mitchell’s Time In Utah

Mitchell spent five seasons with the Jazz. He appeared in 345 games with 337 starts, averaging 23.9 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 4.5 assists per contest, while shooting 44% from the field and 36% from the three-point line.

The Louisville product increased his scoring average in each of the first three seasons. During the 2020-21 campaign, Mitchell averaged 26.4 points per contest before going down to 25.9 this past season.

Mitchell helped the Jazz reach the playoffs in each of his five seasons with the organization. He played 39 games, posting averages of 28.3 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 4.7 assists while shooting 43% from the floor and 36% from downtown.

During the postseason, Mitchell scored 30 points or more in 19 games, 40 points or more in four games, and 50 points or more twice. He dropped 57 points in the bubble in Game 1 against the Nuggets and 51 points in Game 4 of the same series.
