SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah Jazz made news on Sunday when it was reported that they have signed small forward Paris Bass to a one-year contract.

Chris Haynes reported the deal on Sunday, August 7 but exact terms have not been released.

Bass averaged 5.6 points and 2.2 rebounds per game while playing with the Los Angeles Lakers summer league team.

Jazz Current Roster:

It is not yet clear where Bass fits in here but the deal is more likely to be an Exhibit-10 or Two-Way style contract than a guaranteed roster spot.

About Paris Bass

A 6’8, 200 pound small forward, Bass is from Birmingham, Michigan. After a stellar high school career at Seaholm High School committing to play collegiately at Detroit Mercy.

Bass earned Horizon League Freshman of the Year honors as a redshirt freshman in 2014-15. He started 21 games, averaging 12.4 points, 5.7 rebounds, 1.2 steals and 1.1 blocks per game for the 15-18 Titans. After missing the first eight games of his sophomore season due to suspension, Bass upped his production by averaging 18.4 points, eight rebounds, 1.4 steals and 1.4 blocks per game. After signing but not playing in Austria, Bass spent time with the G-Leagues’s Erie BayHawks where he averaged 3.9 points and 2.7 rebounds per game.

In 2018 alone, Bass spent time playing in the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico and Columbia.

In October 2021, Bass signed with the South Bay Lakers after securing another G-League tryout. In 14 games with the Lakers, Bass averaged 17.9 points, 8.4 rebounds, 1.4 assists, and 1.1 steals per game. He also shot an efficient 48.7 percent from the field, 33.9 percent on threes , and 78.6 percent from the free throw line.

Bass signed with the Phoenix Suns as a Covid hardship exemption last season. In two games with the Suns he averaged three points and two rebounds per game.
