LOGAN, UT – After a surprise 11-3 season in 2021, what does starting QB Logan Bonner and his Aggies have in store for an encore?

Not satisfied with the programs first Mountain West Conference championship and a Jimmy Kimmel LA Bowl victory, the Aggies expect more.

Utah State opened their fall camp on Friday, July 29 in preparation for their season opener against Connecticut on Saturday, August 27 at Maverik Stadium in Logan.

Graduate senior quarterback Logan Bonner is back and healthy, confident in where the Aggies sit.

“This time last year, we were still trying to figure out some things. But right now we’re way ahead of where we were last year. That gives us an opportunity to grow even more and be ready and install more stuff and more complicated things in the future.”

Bonner has exuded a similar confidence all offseason long as the Aggies continue to fight for program respect in the Mountain West.

When Bonner learned the Aggies were picked to finish third in the conference, he didn’t shy away from the challenge.

“We are right where we want to be, underdogs again,” Bonner said. “I think that it’s really good for us. I feel like we have been disrespected in the past. I think that we deserve to get some recognition but that’s fine. If we don’t get it, that’s okay, we’ll be fine. That underdog mentality is the same as last year. Last year we were picked last. This year, we were picked third. It might as well be the same. That’s how we feel.”

After sitting out fall practices while rehabbing a knee injury suffered in the bowl game, Bonner was happy to get back on the practice field.

“Obviously, it’s day one install. I think overall it’s good day. I haven’t played football in a while. So it was good for me to get out here and it felt really good.

The scrimmages will be held on Saturday, August 6 at 11 a.m. (MST) and Saturday, Aug. 13, at noon. Both scrimmages will be held on Merlin Olsen Field at Maverik Stadium.
