Devin Lloyd To Miss Some Time With Hamstring Injury

JACKSONVILLE- Rookie linebacker Devin Lloyd will miss some time with a hamstring injury according to Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson. Team reporter Ashlyn Sullivan tweeted the news on July 25th after a training camp practice, but Lloyd’s injury apparently came about during Sunday’s practice.

Pederson went on to say that Lloyd’s injury wasn’t significant, but that the Jaguars don’t want to push Lloyd quicker than they have to at the moment.
Lloyd’s Impact With The Jags
Lloyd was drafted in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft as the 27th pick overall. Since the spring, Lloyd has been busy making his presence known in Jacksonville with team reporter Ashlyn Sullivan stating no other rookie has done more in the offseason than Lloyd.
It is the hope of the Jaguars franchise that Lloyd can not only help them on the field, but off of it as well after a tumultuous 2021 season under former head coach Urban Meyer. So far Lloyd has heeded the call as a community leader, but time will tell exactly what his impact on the field will be.
At Utah, Lloyd was the unlikely heart-and-soul of the Utes, especially in 2021 in the face of two tragic teammate deaths in less than a year. Lloyd was brilliant helping the team man the storm both on and off the field, resulting in Utah’s first Pac-12 Title and Rose Bowl appearance.
Lloyd ended his career at Utah with 66 solo tackles, 45 assisted, seven sacks, four interceptions, two for touchdowns, six passes defended and one fumble recovery. The Jaguars are hopeful Lloyd can bring that same level of production to their organization in 2022 in an effort to give their defense more teeth.
The Jaguars open their preseason games against the Raiders in Las Vegas on August 4th. Their first regular season game kicks off on September 11th against the Washington Commanders in D.C.
