Doncic Has Calf Strain, No Timetable On Return

SALT LAKE CITY – On Tuesday, the Dallas Mavericks issued a release confirming that All-Star guard Luka Doncic has a calf strain.
However, the team wasn’t able to offer a timetable on when the guard might return ahead of their opening-round playoff series with the Utah Jazz.
“The Dallas Mavericks announced today that an MRI confirmed a left calf strain for Luka Dončić,” the team tweeted. “Dončić has begun treatment and there is no timetable for his return.”

Doncic left the Mavericks’ regular season finale against the San Antonio Spurs after suffering the injury.
Shortly after leaving the game, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported that the injury wasn’t thought to be serious upon the first diagnosis.
“There’s initial optimism that Dallas star Luka Doncic hasn’t suffered a significant injury, source tells ESPN,” Wojnarowski tweeted. “Team is calling it a strained left calf.”
Doncic averaged 28.4 points, 9.1 rebounds, and 8.7 assists while leading the Mavericks to the fourth-best record in the Western Conference.

The Jazz and Mavericks split their regular season series two games apiece with both teams protecting their home floors.
Doncic appeared in only three games against the Jazz this season and averaged 30.0 points, 11.0 rebounds, and 7.7 assists. The Mavericks went 2-1 against the Jazz with Doncic in the lineup.
The Jazz and Mavericks are set to open the NBA Playoffs on Saturday at 11 am MT in Dallas the American Airlines Center.
