MacMath, Schmitt Represent Real Salt Lake In Team Of The Week
Mar 21, 2022, 1:12 PM
SALT LAKE CITY – Zac MacMath and Tate Schmitt have both been recognized for their efforts against Nashville SC by being named to the MLS Team of the Week.
MacMath, 30, wore the captain’s armband against Nashville as he led RSL to a pivotal victory to remain undefeated in 2022. MacMath’s form to start 2022 has been exceptional. He has only conceded three goals through four games, has made multiple massive saves, and has instilled a sense of belief within the defense.

MacMath did not participate much throughout preseason games, but when David Ochoa injured his quad late in preseason MacMath knew his number was going to be called.
During the contest against Nashville, MacMath notched 450 career saves. Former RSL goalkeeper Nick Rimando holds the record for most saves in MLS with 1475.
It took back-to-back game-winning goals from left wing-back Tate Schmitt to finally be rewarded with an MLS Team of the Week recognition.
Schmitt, 24, scored his debut professional goal just over a week ago in the snow of Massachusetts and was able to follow it up with another game-winner to seal three points against Nashville SC at home this past weekend.

Against Nashville Schmitt found space on the back post following a cross from Maikel Chang. A one-touch finish with his left foot sent the ball through the legs of Nashville goalkeeper Joe Willis before hitting the back of the net.
