Real Salt Lake Doesn’t Waste Any Time In Scoring Against Nashville

SANDY, UT – Real Salt Lake forward Bobby Wood put the Claret & Cobalt on top 1-0 with a second minute goal against Nashville.
Real Salt Lake hosted Nashville SC at Rio Tinto Stadium in Sandy, UT on Saturday, March 19.
The goal marked the first opening 45-minute tally for RSL in 2022.

Off of the second corner set piece in the opening minutes, Justin Meram found Wood at the top of the six-yard box and Wood calmly deposited the header into the back of the net.
For Wood, taking advantage of increased opportunities at the net has been his specialty in the early going of 2022. The goal against Nashville was his second of the season while also adding an assist.

Continuing to play shorthanded without expected key contributors Damir Kreilach, Aaron Herrera and perhaps most importantly without goal keeper David Ochoa in the early going, RSL has looked strong at times. Despite the lack of options for Mastroeni, Real Salt Lake has managed to remain undefeated throughout the opening three weeks of the season. They are tied atop the Western Conference with LAFC on points.
Nashville has and will continue to play all of its fixtures on the road as their new stadium is set to open on May 1st when they host Philadelphia for the 2022 home opener in week 9. So far, Nashville has beaten Seattle 1-0, drew to Minnesota, and suffered defeat against Dallas after conceding two goals in the final 10 minutes of play.
Real Salt Lake hosts Nashville on Saturday night and the match is available to watch via the KSL Sports or KSL 5 TV app or on KSLsports.com.
