Big Runs Help Jazz Build 25-Point Halftime Lead Against Rockets

SALT LAKE CITY – Multiple big runs helped the Utah Jazz break their game against the Houston Rockets wide-open before the halftime break.
The Jazz hosted the Rockets at Vivint Arena on Monday, February 13.
At halftime, Utah owned a 78-53 lead as it went to the locker room. 78 points is a season-high in first half scoring by the Jazz.

The Jazz built the 25-point advantage with large scoring bursts against one of the worst teams in the NBA.
Utah opened the contest on a 14-2 run over the first three and a half minutes of game time.

From the 2:06 mark of the first quarter to the 10:08 mark of the second quarter, the Jazz took a 31-24 lead to 47-24 on a 16-0 spurt.
The Jazz outscored the Rockets by 12 points in the first quarter and 13 points in the second quarter.

Utah shot 55.8 percent from the field, including 11-22 for 50.0 percent from downtown.
At the break, Bojan Bogdanovic and Donovan Mitchell led the Jazz with 15 points each.

The Rockets stunned the Jazz in mid-January with a 116-111 victory in Salt Lake City.
The Jazz were without Donovan Mitchell who had suffered a concussion in the previous game and allowed Houston’s shooters to go largely unchallenged as the Rockets knocked down 22-45 three-point attempts in the game.
Reserve guard Garrison Mathews scored 23 points off the bench including knocking down 5-9 threes in the victory.
However, the Rockets have struggled since beating the Jazz on the road. Houston is just 1-8 in their last nine games and has been outscored by an average of 13.3 points per.
