Donovan Mitchell Hits Floater Over Former Teammate During Knicks/Jazz Game

SALT LAKE CITY – Jazz guard Donovan Mitchell sunk a floater over one of his former teammates during Utah’s game against the New York Knicks.
The Jazz hosted the Knicks at Vivint Arena on Monday, February 7.
With 7:42 remaining in the first half, Mitchell drove towards the hoop before releasing a floater over former Jazzman and current Knicks guard Alec Burks.
Mitchell’s shot cut New York’s lead to 39-37.

Burks was drafted by the Jazz in 2011 and played for Utah until midway through the 2018-19 season. Burks and Mitchell were teammates for a little more than a season.
Mitchell is in his second game back for the Jazz after missing eight straight games with a concussion suffered on January 17 against the Los Angeles Lakers.
During Mitchell’s absence, the guard was named to his third consecutive All-Star game which will be held on February 20th in Cleveland.
The guard is originally from New York and considered the Knicks his hometown team growing up.
Mitchell scored 27 points on 8-10 shooting in the Jazz blowout victory over the Brooklyn Nets on Friday night.

Jazz Vs. Knicks
January proved to be one of the most difficult months in recent Jazz memory with the team losing 12 of their 16 contests, due largely to absences from key players.
In addition to Mitchell’s injury, Rudy Gobert has missed 11 of the Jazz’s last 16 games with COVID-19 and a calf strain which held him out again against New York.
Joe Ingles was lost for the season with an ACL tear last Sunday, while Jordan Clarkson has missed the last two games with knee soreness but returned to face New York.
The Knicks haven’t had an easy stretch in recent weeks either.
After their surprising run to the playoffs last year, the Knicks have been the of the league’s most disappointing teams this season.
The Knicks are just 2-8 in their last 10 games including Saturday’s loss to the Los Angeles Lakers in which they blew a 21 point first half lead.
