SALT LAKE CITY – Tom Brady’s agent and father addressed reports of the Tampa Bay quarterback’s retirement from playing in the NFL.

Conflicting Reports on Tom Brady’s retirement

On Saturday, January 29, ESPN’s Adam Schefter and Jeff Darlington were first to report that Brady would retire from football after 22 seasons in the league.

Tom Brady’s Agent

Shortly after reports surfaced of Brady’s departure from the NFL, the quarterback’s agent shared the following statement:

“I understand the advance speculation about Tom’s future. Without getting into the accuracy or inaccuracy of what’s being reported, Tom will be the only person to express his plans with complete accuracy. He knows the realities of the football business and planning calendar as well as anybody, so that should be soon.” – Don Yee

Tom Brady Sr.

Kylen Mills of Northern California’s KRON4 News reported that Brady’s father, Tom Brady Sr., said his son is not retiring and that “an online publication started circulating an unsubstantiated rumor.”

Mike Giardi of NFL Network reported similar remarks from Brady’s father.

Buccaneers head coach Bruce Arians

Jenna Laine of ESPN said that Buccaneers head coach Bruce Arians told her that Brady hadn’t informed Tampa Bay of a decision to retire.

“He hasn’t. Not even close to making up his mind yet. He told us,” Arians told Laine.

Deleted Tweet

Shortly after ESPN’s report, TB12 Sports, which is owned by the Buccaneers quarterback, posted a tweet highlighting Brady’s career accomplishments. That post has since been deleted.

About Tom Brady

If Brady is truly done playing in the NFL and is retiring from football, he will leave a legacy as the greatest quarterback in the game’s history.

During his 22 seasons, Brady won seven Super Bowl championships, five Super Bowl MVP awards, three regular season MVPs, and is the NFL’s record holder for the most touchdown passes (624) and most passing yards (84,250).
