Rubin’s goal came from a flicked header from Damir Kreilach. Rubin then controlled the ball with his thigh before leaping in the air and striking the ball with his right foot. His shot found the top right-hand corner of the net to score the game’s opening goal.
Real Salt Lake ultimately lost the game 2-1 following a brace from Major League Soccer’s all-time leading goalscorer and recently retired striker Chris Wondolowski who netted two goals in the final 10 minutes of the game.
In his first season with the Club, Rubin has scored eight goals and added five assists in 34 appearances. In the last regular-season match against Sporting Kansas City, Rubin, along with Albert Rusnak, became the first players in RSL history to appear in 34 matches.
