Saints Announce Trevor Siemian As Week 9 QB1 Over Taysom Hill

SALT LAKE CITY – New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton announced Trevor Siemian as the team’s starting quarterback for Week 9 over former BYU star Taysom Hill.
Payton declared the former Denver Broncos signal-caller as the Saints’ QB1 on Friday, November 5.
Despite not starting at quarterback, Hill will play against the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday, November 7, according to the head coach.
The former BYU quarterback will serve as Siemian’s backup alongside Notre Dame product Ian Book.

Hill returned to practice this week after suffering a concussion on October 10. He has missed New Orleans’ last two games.

Payton confirmed that Winston had a torn ACL that occurred during the first half of New Orleans’ win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Halloween. Siemian replaced Winston and led the Saints to a win over the Bucs.
Winston beat out Hill for the Saints QB1 job during training camp.
Through the first four games of the season, the Saints utilized the former BYU star as an all-around playmaker like he was used in past seasons.
This season, Hill is 3/4 passing for 12 yards and an interception. He’s run the ball 16 times for 77 yards and three touchdowns.

During his five seasons in the NFL, Hill has thrown for 1,059 yards, four touchdowns, and four interceptions with a 70.3 completion rate.
New Orleans currently owns a 5-2 record and sits in second place in the NFC South division.
The Saints’ game against the Atlanta Falcons will begin at 11 a.m. (MDT) on Sunday, November 7 and will be televised on FOX.
