SALT LAKE CITY – Former BYU and current New Orleans Saints quarterback Taysom Hill practiced as a full participant for the first time since suffering a concussion in October.
After he was limited in practice a day earlier, Hill was listed as a full participant in the Saints’ practice on Thursday, November 4.
ESPN’s Mike Triplett reported that Hill isn’t guaranteed to start in Week 9 even though was a full participant in practice.
“Saints are still keeping their QB plans close to the vest, but I don’t think this is a situation where Taysom Hill automatically starts if healthy since he missed the past three weeks and was limited in practice to start the week,” Triplett tweeted. “Trevor Siemian is definitely a Week 9 option.”

The former BYU star hasn’t played since he suffered a concussion after a helmet-to-helmet hit against the Washington Football Team on October 10. He had to be carted off the field following the injury.
Hill has missed New Orleans’ last two games.
Earlier in the week, Saints head coach Sean Payton spoke about Hill’s progress towards a return to action.
“He’s progressing well. He’s on schedule,” the Saints coach said of Hill.

The Saints need Hill to return to the field after starting quarterback Jameis Winston suffered a season-ending knee injury during Week 8.
Payton confirmed that Winston had a torn ACL that occurred during the first half of New Orleans’ win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Halloween. Former Denver Broncos starter and fellow Saints backup quarterback Trevor Siemian replaced Winston and led the Saints to a win over the Bucs.

Winston beat out Hill for the Saints QB1 job during training camp.
Through the first four games of the season, the Saints utilized the former BYU star as an all-around playmaker like he was used in past seasons.
This season, Hill is 3/4 passing for 12 yards and an interception. He’s run the ball 16 times for 77 yards and three touchdowns.

New Orleans currently owns a 5-2 record and sits in second place in the NFC South division.
The Saints’ next game is at home against the Atlanta Falcons (3-4) on Sunday, November 7 at 11 a.m. (MDT) on FOX.
