No. 1 Corner Canyon Keeps Streak Alive, Defeats No. 2 Skyridge

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The No. 1 Corner Canyon Chargers kept their winning streak alive and defeated the No. 2 Skyridge Falcons.

No. 2 Skyridge 23 @ No. 1 Corner Canyon 38

The Chargers had a 21-10 lead at halftime and was able to hold off Skyridge. Devin Brown four touchdown passes, hitting Jett Meine twice, along with one to Tre Kofe and Blaze DeGracie. Dylan Carlson ran in a touchdown for the Chargers. McCae Hillstead threw two touchdowns, one to Smith Snowden and Connor McAllister. Snowden also had a pick-six in the fourth quarter.

Here are all of the results in the 6A classification from the seventh week of the high school football season.

Region 1

Clearfield 0 @ No. 16 Syracuse 17

The No. 16 Syracuse Titans blanked the Clearfield Falcons, 17-0. Titans quarterback Jake Hopkins tossed a pair of touchdown passes in the game. With the result, Syracuse improved to a record of 5-2 and Clearfield fell to 1-6 on the season.

Davis 27 @ No. 20 Fremont 24

The Davis Darts upset the No. 20 Fremont Silverwolves with a 27-24 overtime victory. Davis’ Trey Talbot scored a 12-yard touchdown in overtime to give the Darts the game. Darts quarterback Jackson Stevens threw a pair of touchdown passes in the game. With the result, Davis improved to a record of 4-3 and Fremont fell to 3-4 on the season.

Layton 20 @ No. 7 Weber 24

The No. 7 Weber Warriors beat the Layton Lancers, 24-20. Weber scored 14 points in the fourth quarter to come from behind and beat Layton. Weber’s Jake Lindsay accounted for three touchdowns. With the result, Weber improved to a record of 5-2 and Layton fell to 4-3 on the season.

Region 2

Taylorsville 10 @ No. 11 West 42

The Panthers scored three touchdowns in the first and second quarters and that was all they needed to do to pick up the win. Karson Lopati threw for one TD to Jacob Wilson. Isaiah SueSue had two passing touchdowns, connecting with Kymani Lautaimi and Viliata Tua’one. Zeke Latu and Bronson Saena added rushing TD’s, while Teki Mahe had a scoop and score.

Cyprus 28 @ Granger 29

The Granger Lancers held off the Cyprus Pirates on Friday night, 29-28. Four different players scored touchdowns for the Lancers. With the result, Granger improved to a record of 2-5 and Cyprus fell to 1-6 on the season.

Hunter 3 @ No. 25 Kearns 34

The No. 25 Kearns Cougars pounded the Hunter Wolverines, 34-3. Kearns’ Naki Leha scored three touchdowns during the Cougars’ win. With the result, Kearns improved to a record of 4-3 and Hunter fell to 1-6 on the season.

Region 3

Herriman 7 @ No. 22 West Jordan 26

The No. 22 West Jordan Jaguars ran past the Herriman Mustangs on Friday, 26-7. West Jordan’s Boston Farmer scored a pair of touchdowns during the contest. With the result, West Jordan improved to a record of 6-0 and Herriman fell to 2-5 on the season.

Copper Hills 14 @ Riverton 45

Riverton jumped out to a 35-0 lead in the first half and never looked back. Jake Meyers threw four touchdown passes, finding Josh Jacobson twice, while Garrick Gibbons and Sam Woolley each hauled in one score. Sau Tafisi and Colby Barton each added a rushing TD.

Region 4

No. 4 American Fork 21 @ No. 3 Lone Peak 27

Lone Peak had a 13-7 lead at halftime and a 19-7 advantage heading into the fourth quarter but American Fork made it a ball game with two touchdowns. The Knights scored 8 points in the fourth quarter to hold off the Cavemen. Easton Comer threw two touchdown passes, finding Luke Hyde and Crew McChesney. Luke Durfey added two rushing TD’s for Lone Peak. Maddux Madsen had three touchdown passes, connecting with Trey Roberts, Ben Rutter and Jace Hull.

Westlake 38 @ Pleasant Grove 21

Garrison Higgins threw three touchdown passes for Westlake, finding Mason Morgan and Zach Allen. Allen also recorded a pick-six in the win for the Thunder. Nic Staffieri threw three touchdown passes, connecting with Kael McCoy, Kolton Tanner and Makai Peterson for Pleasant Grove.

Non-Region

Farmington 21 @ No. 21 Roy 16

Farmington held a 7-3 halftime lead before scoring two touchdowns in the third. Roy scored just 13 points in the second half as the Phoenix pulled off the upset. Easton White threw a TD pass to Caden Reynolds. Reynolds also ran in a score, as did Boston Reinhold. Parker Kingston had a rushing touchdown and a passing TD to Cole West in the loss.
