SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Former BYU and current New York Jets quarterback Zach Wilson didn’t let a family vacation prevent him from continuing to work on his craft.
The Wilson family is currently on vacation according to social media posts.
Despite taking some time away from the gridiron for the family, the rookie Jets QB put in some work.
Wilson’s father, Mike, shared photos of the former BYU gunslinger tossing the pigskin on a golf course.
“Only grass we could find to get some work in!!! @zachkapono1vthrow where you can,” Mike Wilson tweeted on July 8.

Wilson’s mother, Lisa, shared a photo of the family playing a card game on her Instagram account.
Amidst the family game, the Jets quarterback seemed preoccupied with a phone in hand and a tablet on the table in front of him.
@00Jets on Twitter shared screenshots of a conversation with Wilson’s mother asking if the Jets rookie was studying film during the card game.
“Is Zach watching film,” @00Jets asked.
“Yes haha,” Lisa Wilson responded, according to a screenshot.

During his time at BYU and since April’s NFL Draft, Wilson has been known a student of the game and a film junkie.
“He watches all kinds of film on his off time. While guys are playing video games and playing their PS5s and stuff like that, he’s on his iPad and laptop watching film,” BYU head coach Kalani Sitake said of Wilson during an interview with NBC Sports’ Rich Eisen in March. “You can talk to our video coordinator. He (Wilson) downloads NFL films. So he’s watching Patrick Mahomes, Aaron Rodgers, (Ben) Roethlisberger, he’s watching all these guys. And I mean, like tons of film, and then he’ll text me and say, ‘Hey, I like this play. What do you think?’ And there’s like, ‘Yeah, man, whatever you like. Let’s just take a look at it.’ And, you know, he just loves football. And that’s what he’s about.”
Shortly after the NFL Draft, Jets head coach Robert Saleh praised Wilson for his “relentless” want for knowledge and studying.
“He’s relentless in terms of his want for knowledge and in terms of studying,” Saleh said of Wilson. “It is interesting, when he’s watching tape, the things he’s able to pick up and recognize on tape.”
