Gobert, Conley Dominate, Help Jazz Blowout Rockets

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Rudy Gobert and Mike Conley dominated and helped the Utah Jazz to a blowout victory over the Houston Rockets.

The Rockets hosted the Jazz at Toyota Center on Wednesday, April 21.

Gobert and Conley imposed their will on the court and led the Jazz to a 112-89 win.

Gobert finished the game with a massive double-double that featured 19 points and 18 rebounds.

He shot 9-12 on field goals.

The two-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year added two blocks and posted a plus-44 rating during his 26 minutes on the court.

Conley ended with 11 points on 4-12 shooting.

He dished out a game-high 13 assists.

Conley also had two steals and a game-high plus-46 rating during 25 minutes on the hardwood.

Game Flow

Joe Ingles hit three triples during the opening minutes of the game which fueled the Jazz to a quick 19-10 start in the first quarter.

At the end of the opening 12 minutes, Utah was up seven points.

In the second quarter, the Jazz dominated on both ends of the quarter.

Gobert and Conley propelled the Jazz to a double-digit lead at the halftime break, 61-43.

The third quarter was much of the same.

Utah outscored Houston 30-20 in the opening 12 minutes of the second half and the game was essentially over.

The Rockets played against the back half of the Jazz’s roster during the final minutes of the contest but only won the final quarter by five points.

Although Utah won the game by 23 points, the game didn’t feel that close.

For the game, the Jazz shot 45.6 percent overall and 37.0 percent from beyond the arc.

Utah had six players score in double figures.

Jordan Clarkson scored a team-high 22 points off the bench.

Ingles poured in 21 points on 7-11 shooting. Six of Ingles’ field goals were three-pointers.

Bojan Bogdanovic added 14 points.

Georges Niang went 3-5 from three on his way to scoring 13 points.

Houston Rockets

Houston was limited to shooting 35.4 percent for the contest and a dismal 20.4 percent from distance.

John Wall led the Rockets with 21 points on 8-19 field goals.

Up Next

With the win, the Jazz improved their NBA-best record to 44-15 on the season, including 18-12 on the road.

Utah’s next game is against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Saturday, April 24 at 7 p.m. (MDT).

The game will broadcast on AT&T SportsNet and 97.5 FM.
