Real Monarchs Announce 2021 USL Season Schedule

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Real Monarchs have announced their upcoming slate of games for the 2021 USL season, beginning with an away trip to San Antonio on May 8th before their home opener on May 14 against LA Galaxy II.
The schedule involves 32 games, 16 home games, and 16 away fixtures. USL has broken its teams into divisions for the 2021 season with the Monarchs falling into the Mountain Division alongside Austin Bold FC, Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC, El Paso Locomotive FC, New Mexico United, Rio Grande Valley FC and San Antonio FC. The Monarchs will face each opponent in their division four times, two away and two at home.

The schedule features eight non-division matches, including the home opener against LA Galaxy II on Friday, May 14. Notable games include a home matchup against former head coach Mark Briggs and the Sacramento Republic on Wednesday, June 9, and a road match against San Diego Loyal and former captain Jack Blake on Saturday, August 7.
Real Monarchs will close out their regular season at home when they host RGV FC Toros on Wednesday, October 27 before finishing the year on the road against New Mexico United on Saturday, October 30.
The Monarchs return just three players from the 2020 squad with goalkeeper Jimmy Slayton, midfielder Sam Brown and long-time defender James Moberg establishing the veteran core. This offseason, the front office has been hard at work scouting and signing players from all across the globe.
Defender Kyle Adams and forward Max Mata represent the New Zealand contingency, while the trio of midfielder Brayan Gomez, defender Kevin Saucedo and forward Juan Vidal all hail from Colombia. Chelsea FC Academy product Josimar Quintero is from Ecuador and forward Malik Johnson comes to Utah from Canada.
