SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Former NBA player and known Utah Jazz hater Vernon Maxwell tweeted another jab directed at the team currently owning the league’s best record.

Although the Jazz sit atop the NBA standings with a 26-6 record this season, that didn’t prevent Maxwell from posting something negative about Salt Lake City’s franchise.

“It’s understandable to brag and celebrate having the best record in February when your franchise’s biggest accomplishment is food poisoning MJ,” Maxwell tweeted on February 26.

Not the first time

This Maxwell’s first time taking shots at the Jazz on social media.

In fact, Maxwell’s pinned tweet on his Twitter profile is a fixture of his disdain for Jazz fans.

“I’d like 2 apologize Jazz fans that were offended by my tweets. If I knew u guys had internet in Utah I would’ve never made those tweets,” Maxwell’s pinned tweet reads.

In 2020, the ex-NBA journeyman directed a series of negative tweets at the state of Utah and the Jazz.

In January 2020, Maxwell posted, “So here is the reason I’m in Utah. I decided to offer a free clinic to the best young shooters in the state as a truce to try and mend my relationship with Utah fans. Here are the best shooters the state had to offer….”

A month later, Maxwell dished out another jab towards Jazz fans.

“Most NBA teams winning a title is the ultimate goal not the Jazz,” Maxwell wrote. “They are going ape s*** this morning because they won a meaningless regular season game where 2 of our best shooters took the night off. #saltlakes*****”

However, Maxwell did send well wishes to Jazz center Rudy Gobert after the big man tested positive for COVID-19 in March 2020.

“Prayers to @rudygobert27 and everyone that has tested positive for the #coronavirus. Stay safe everyone,” Maxwell tweeted.

Vernon Maxwell’s NBA career

Maxwell spent 13 seasons in the NBA and played for eight different teams.

He played for the San Antonio Spurs, Houston Rockets, Philadelphia 76ers, Orlando Magic, Charlotte Hornets, Sacramento Kings, Seattle SuperSonics, and Dallas Mavericks.

Maxwell averaged 12.8 points, 2.6 rebounds, 3.4 assists, and 1.1 steals per game. He shot 39 percent from the field and 32 percent from the three-point line.
