BYU Football Adds Grad Transfer Mufi Hill-Hunt From Utah

PROVO, Utah – BYU football has added a graduate transfer from the University of Utah, defensive end Mufi Hill-Hunt.
Hill-Hunt is currently enrolled at BYU right now and will participate in spring practices beginning on Monday for the Cougars.
A former heralded recruit from Taylorsville High School, Hill-Hunt signed with Michigan State in 2015. He received offers from Oregon, Oklahoma, Washington, Utah, and BYU coming out of high school.
In three years with Michigan State, Hill-Hunt appeared in two games with the Spartans.
He transferred to the University of Utah in 2019, where he was a walk-on for the Utes. Hill-Hunt played in two games for the Utes as a defensive end in 2019. He was then switched to tight end in 2020, where he didn’t appear in any of Utah’s five games played last fall.
Mufi Hill-Hunt entered the NCAA’s Transfer Portal back on December 22nd, 2020.
At 6-foot-6, 255-pounds, Hill-Hunt will compete along the defensive line for BYU in 2021.
Hill-Hunt will have one year of eligibility remaining to play at BYU. Last season, Hill-Hunt was a redshirt senior last year with the Utes, but due to the NCAA’s blanket waiver rule for eligibility this past fall due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Hill-Hunt can compete this year at BYU.
BYU’s defensive end position lost Zac Dawe to graduation. They return Uriah Leiataua, who like Hill-Hunt, is also taking advantage of the NCAA’s blanket waiver. Tyler Batty also returns after he suffered a lower leg injury at the midway point of last season.
BYU football spring practices begin on Monday, March 1st.
