For every retweet using the hashtag “Bell Lets Talk”, the club will donate five cents to Canadian mental health initiatives.
Bell Lets Talk is an awareness campaign created by the Canadian telecommunications company, Bell Canada, in an effort to raise awareness and combat the stigma surrounding mental illness in Canada.
The campaign was founded in 2010 and immediately found success when a $1 million donation was received by the Royal Ottowa Hospital. Shortly thereafter, a flurry of other large scale donations was received.
The Bell Lets Talk initiative was born.
Since then, the campaign has helped provide over $115 million in donations to further help support mental health in Canada. The help of celebrities such as six-time cycling Olympian Clara Hughes, among others has helped spread the word.
The campaign has had so much success that the hashtag was the most used hashtag in Canada on Twitter during 2018.
