Utah Valley Doomed By Turnovers In 18-Point Loss At St. John’s

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Utah Valley men’s basketball team turned the ball over a fatal amount and suffered an 18-point loss to the St. John’s Red Storm.
The Red Storm hosted UVU at Carnesecca Arena in Queens, New York on Saturday, January 23.
Unfortunately for the Wolverines, they committed 22 turnovers compared to only four by the Red Storm.
St. John’s took advantage of UVU’s mistakes and created additional opportunities with a plus-six advantage in offensive rebounds as well.
The errors proved fatal as Utah Valley fell to St. John’s, 96-78.

It was the Wolverines’ first loss since January 2.
Four UVU starters scored in double figures, led by Trey Woodbury’s game-high 23 points on 10-14 field goals.

Despite the loss, the Wolverines outshot the Red Storm. Utah Valley ended the contest shooting 60.0 percent overall and 44.4 percent from distance.
St. John’s finished shooting 47.4 percent from the field, including 36.0 percent from three.

Posh Alexander led the Red Storm with 20 points.

With the loss, the Wolverines fell to a record of 5-6 on the season.
