SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The GoFundMe fundraiser setup for the family of Ty Jordan recently exceeded its goal.

The freshman running back for the Utah Utes passed away in late December.

Following his death, a GoFundMe fundraiser was created to raise $22,222 for Jordan’s family. Jordan’s jersey number with the Utes was No. 22.

As of January 1, 2021, the amount donated to the fundraiser was $22,336 and 173 people had participated.

The fundraiser in honor of Jordan was setup by Nick Bruce.

This was Bruce’s initial message after creating the GoFundMe:

“Ty Jordan was taken from this world far too early. There is absolutely nothing that will take away the sting of his absence, for his family, his teammates, his friends, or his fans. He will be greatly missed by all. At this time of need, the last thing his family needs is to be concerned with finances. With this page, I am hoping that people will find it in their hearts to help ease the burden of losing a loved one. Ty was not from the state of Utah, but the minute he stepped onto the football field, he became a part of the Utah family. It’s time for us to take care of his family during this time of need.

*All funds raised from this fundraiser will be given to the Jordan family. Specific details will be provided as they are available, but any and all proceeds will be given to the family to help cover any expenses during this tragic time.*”

After the GoFundMe surpassed $20,000, Bruce posted this message:

“I never thought this GoFundMe would get anywhere, let alone over $20,000. Thank you so much to everyone who shared this fundraiser allowing it to get the recognition that it did. And a HUGE thank you to everyone that donated, no matter how big or small it may have been, your generosity did not go unnoticed!!”

The GoFundMe page set up to help with finances for the Jordan family can be found, here.
