Utah Cornerback Clark Phillips III Seals Win Over Washington State With Pick-Six

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Utah cornerback Clark Phillips III sealed the game and win for the Utes with a pick-six of Washington State quarterback Jayden de Laura late in the fourth quarter.
The Utes hosted the Cougars at Rice-Eccles Stadium on Saturday, December 19.
With 2:06 left in the game and Washington State down 38-28, de Laura forced a ball down the field into coverage.
Phillips intercepted the pass and returned the ball 36 yards for a Utah touchdown.

The score stretched Utah’s lead to 45-28.
After trailing Washington State 28-7 at halftime, the Utes scored 38 unanswered points in the second half, including 24 points in the final 15 minutes.

It was Phillips’ first career interception and touchdown.

The turnover was Washington State’s third of four giveaways in the fourth quarter.

After the pick, Phillips had two total tackles, one solo tackle, one fumble recovery, one interception, one pass breakup, and a touchdown.
Washington State fell to 1-3 on the season with the loss.
