Utah State Center Neemias Queta Named To Wooden Award Preseason Watch List

LOGAN, Utah – Utah State center Neemias Queta is one of 50 players in college basketball named to the initial watch list for the John Wooden Award.
The Aggie big man is the only Mountain West Conference player named to the preseason watch list. Eight other players on the west coast join Queta on the list, including Stanford’s Oscar da Silva and Ziaire Williams, McKinley Wright IV from Colorado, Pepperdine’s Colbey Ross, Evan Mobley from USC, Arizona State’s Remy Martin, Chris Smith from UCLA and Gonzaga duo Drew Timme and Corey Kispert.

Players that were not to the preseason list is still eligible for the midseason list, late season list and the national ballot. The national ballot will feature 15 players.
The Aggies have played three games, going 1-2 in the Bad Boy Mowers Crossover Classic. Queta notched a pair of double-doubles and led Utah State in scoring twice. He had 17 points and 10 rebounds in their season opener against VCU.
Last season, Queta finished second on the team in scoring and rebounding with 13 points and 7.8 boards per game average.
Utah State will have their home opener on Saturday, Dec. 5 when they host the BYU Cougars at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum. Tip-off is at 7 p.m. MST.
