Jacksonville Jaguars Promote Former Utah CB Josh Nurse To 53-Man Roster

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Jacksonville Jaguars announced the elevation of former Utah cornerback Josh Nurse from the team’s practice squad to the 53-man roster.

Nurse was promoted on Saturday, November 28.

“We have made the following roster moves: WR Trey Quinn and CB Josh Nurse have been elevated to the active/inactive list for tomorrow’s game via standard practice squad elevation,” the Jaguars tweeted.

Nurse’s promotion comes prior to Week 12 of the 2020 season.

The former Utah defensive back first signed with Jacksonville in September.

The Jaguars are Nurses’ second stop in the league. Shortly after going undrafted in the 2020 NFL Draft, he signed an undrafted free agent deal with the Baltimore Ravens.

The Ravens waived Nurse shortly before the start of the season.

Currently, Jacksonville owns a 1-9 record. The Jaguars have lost nine straight games.

The team’s next game is against the Cleveland Browns on Sunday, November 29 at 11 a.m. (MDT). The game will broadcast on CBS.

The Fayetteville, Georgia native joined Utah in 2017 as a junior college transfer from Blinn College.

In 2017, Nurse played in 12 games. He joined the Utes as a wide receiver before moving to defense.

The following season, the corner played in all 14 games on special teams and 4 games on defense.

As a senior in 2019, Nurse played in all 14 of Utah’s games, including 10 starts at right corner. He recorded 27 tackles, 2 tackles for loss, 1 sack and 6 pass breakups.
