Utah State Says No Fans Allowed To Attend Thanksgiving Day Game Against New Mexico

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Utah State athletic director John Hartwell announced that the Aggies’ next game against New Mexico on Thanksgiving Day will take place without fans in attendance.
The Aggies are scheduled to play the Lobos at Maverik Stadium in Logan on Thursday, November 26.
Following USU’s statement that its football team would not play Wyoming on November 19, Hartwell announced that “only family members of players will be allowed inside Maverik Stadium for the Aggies’ Mountain West Thanksgiving game against New Mexico.”
Utah State highlighted that the decision was “based off recommendations and safety guidelines” from officials at the university, local, and state levels.

The decision comes amid a surge in COVID-19 cases around the state of Utah. The spike has caused an increased amount of hospitalizations.
On November 18, the state of Utah announced 3,071 additional positive cases.

5,116 fans were able to attend the Aggies’ home opener against the San Diego State Aztecs on Halloween night.
However, Utah State’s game against Fresno State on November 14 didn’t have any spectators.
Utah State will host New Mexico on Thursday, November 26 at 5 p.m. (MDT). The game will broadcast on FS1.
