SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Utah social media was buzzing on Friday morning following the news that Dalton Kincaid has been cleared by the NCAA and is eligible to suit up for the Utah in just over a week’s time.

The name to some Utah fans may sound unfamiliar, but be warned, Kincaid will have an immediate impact with the excitement coming from Kyle Whittingham and the coaching staff suggesting that the future is bright for Kincaid and the tight-end position.

So, Who Is He?

Kincaid hails from the great state of Nevada and grew up focusing most of his attention on the game of basketball. As a talented big-man, he frequently operated around the hoop utilizing his size to bowl over opposing centers.

In fact, Kincaid won a AAU National Championship as a teenager. As a senior for Faith Lutheran High School he averaged 11.5 points, 7.5 boards and 2.5 assists in 26 games.

“As a basketball player, he has grown accustomed to jumping up and high pointing passes,” Steve Bartle said on the latest episode of the It’s Utah’s World podcast. “Which explains why he was such a red-zone threat at San Diego,” he added.

Following his High School career, Kincaid found an opportunity to attend the University of San Diego, a non-scholorship program that competes in the Pioneer Football League.

During his two years playing the tight end position, Kincaid started to warrant the eyes of NFL Scouts. In 2019, he accrued 44 receptions, 8 touchdowns and 835 yards.

Fortunately, his performances caught the eyes of Kyle Whittingham and the Utah coaches.

Now, Utah has three incredibly dangerous threats at the tight end position with Kincaid, Brant Kuithe and Cole Fotheringham.

There is always a reason behind the comments made of Whittingham and when he raves about a player, I would suggest listening closely.

At 6’5 and 240 lbs, the constant mis-match in which Kincaid provides is ideal for a Utah offense that will be relied upon to keep the program in games. Unlike previous years in which the defense has provided to be the reliable side of the ball.

The Podcast

Tom Hackett and Steve Bartle discuss in depth the skillset of Kincaid and how his ability will feature within the 2020 offense.
