SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Fremont High School will be forced forfeit their first-round, post-season game against Copper Hills High School due to an outbreak of COVID-19 on the team, according to a district spokesperson.
Under county and state health department recommendations, the team will be quarantined for 14 days after the known exposure which occurred on October 14, according to the district.
Fremont is the 13 seed and Copper Hills is the 20 seed. The winner would play American Fork on October 30 as part of the 2020 UHSAA 6A State Football Championship tournament.
The game between Copper Hills and Fremont was slated for Friday, October 23 at 6:00 p.m.
Since the game is post-season, there is no opportunity to make it up or postpone, which forces the Fremont to forfeit, according to the district.
