Gunner Romney’s 52-Yard Catch Sets Up BYU’s Third Touchdown On Zach Wilson Run

PROVO, Utah – BYU quarterback Zach Wilson made a beautiful throw to wide receiver Gunner Romney that put the Cougars in the red zone.

Three plays later, Wilson capped the drive with a four-yard touchdown run to give BYU a 21-6 lead over UT-San Antonio with 1:04 remaining in the third quarter.

It was Wilson’s first rushing touchdown of the afternoon. He had two passing touchdowns to that point before finding the end zone on the ground. On the season, Wilson has ran in six scores.

The drive started at their own 10-yard line with a one-yard run by Wilson. Lopini Katoa gained three yards on the next play followed by a 14-yard connection between Wilson and Dax Milne. Then the deep ball to Gunner Romney put the Cougars at the UTSA 20-yard line. Wilson ran for 13 yards on the next play before a three-yard run by Tyler Allgeier.

Through three quarters, Wilson completed 19 of his 25 pass attempts for 259 yards and two touchdowns, along with 5 carries for 21 yards and a score on the ground. Romney made his fourth catch of the game and was up to 80 receiving yards.
