SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Former Bingham High School and current Seattle Mariners pitcher Brady Lail made Major League Baseball history during his third career game in the big leagues.
Despite Lail and the Mariners falling 11-2 to the Houston Astros on Friday, August 14, the former Miner pitcher entered MLB history.
The Seattle reliever became “the fourth player of the Modern Era (since 1900) to play his first three games in the Majors with three different teams and the first since catcher John Peters completed that feat between 1915-21 with the Tigers, Indians and Phillies,” according to Greg Johns of MLB.com.

The other two MLB players to do the same were Ensign Cottrell of the Pirates, Cubs, and Athletics from 1911-13 and Mysterious Walker with the Reds, Naps, and Dodgers, from 1910-13, according to STATS, Inc.
In Mariners’ 11-1 loss, Lail threw three scoreless innings.
Prior to getting claimed by the Mariners, Lail played his first two MLB games for the New York Yankees and Chicago White Sox. Seattle added the former Bingham star earlier in August.

“All I’m looking for in my career is a little stability,” Lail said on Saturday, August 15. “Nothing against the Yankees or White Sox, they’ve given me opportunities. I just didn’t fit in their roles and it’s completely understandable on the business side of things. All I’ve wanted in my career is stability and a chance. I’m very thankful and blessed the Mariners are giving me this opportunity, and hopefully I fit their plans and role for me. I’m excited for what the future holds.”
