Utah State Returner Savon Scarver Named Athlon Preseason All-American

LOGAN, Utah – Utah State wide receiver and kick returner Savon Scarver was named third team preseason All-American by Athlon Sports.
Scarver is one of two Mountain West Conference players to be named preseason All-American. He joins Boise State punt returner Avery Williams, who was named to the second team.
Other preseason recognition for Scarver includes being named to the 2020 College Football America (CFA) Yearbook Group of 5 Preseason Starting Lineup, CFA’s version of a Group of 5 conference All-America Team, the MW Preseason All-Conference Team, the Phil Steele Magazine Preseason All-MW first team, the Athlon Sports Preseason All-MW first team and Mountain West Preseason Special Teams Player of the Year.

Last season, Scarver earned first-team all-Mountain West Conference honors.
He was number one in the Mountain West and second in the nation with kickoff returns for touchdowns with two.
Scarver was also first in the conference and No. 11 in the country for kickoff return yards with an average of 27.9 yards per return.
Utah State was scheduled to open the 2020 season against Washington State at home but after the Pac-12 announcement of going to a conference-only schedule, that game and their game against Washington was canceled.
As of now, the Aggies will open the 2020 season at home against Southern Utah on Saturday, September 12.
