Utah State Returner Savon Scarver Named Mountain West Preseason Special Teams Player of the Year

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Mountain West Conference named Utah State wide receiver and kick returner Savon Scarver as the conference’s Preseason Special Teams Player of the Year.
The Mountain West announced the preseason honor for Scarver on Thursday, July 23. One day earlier, he was named to the MWC’s preseason All-Conference team.
Scarver is the first Utah State player to earn the Mountain West’s Preseason Special Teams Player of the Year honor.

Other preseason recognition for Scarver includes being named to the 2020 College Football America (CFA) Yearbook Group of 5 Preseason Starting Lineup, CFA’s version of a Group of 5 conference All-America Team, the MW Preseason All-Conference Team, the Phil Steele Magazine Preseason All-MW first team and the Athlon Sports Preseason All-MW first team.
Last season, Scarver earned first-team all-Mountain West Conference honors.
He was number one in the Mountain West and second in the nation with kickoff returns for touchdowns with two.

Scarver was also first in the conference and No. 11 in the country for kickoff return yards with an average of 27.9 yards per return.
