Former Jazz Assistant Coach Igor Kokoskov Becomes Head Coach Of Team In Turkey

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Former Utah Jazz assistant coach Igor Kokoskov is leaving the NBA to become the head coach of Fenerbahce in Turkey.

Kokoskov was an assistant coach under Luke Walton with the Sacramento Kings before making the move to Istanbul, Turkey. He has been coaching basketball since 1992 where he spent the first five years overseas before making the jump to the United States to be an assistant coach for Missouri under Quin Snyder.

It’s Kokoskov’s third head coaching job after serving as the head coach for OKK Beograd from 1995-96 and the Phoenix Suns for the 2018-19 season.

Kokoskov was served as an assistant coach for the Los Angeles Clippers, Detroit Pistons, Phoenix Suns, Cleveland Cavaliers and Orlando Magic before joining the Utah Jazz staff in 2015. He remained on staff under Snyder until 2018 when he was hired as the head coach of the Suns. Phoenix finished with a 19-63 record that season and fired Kokoskov. He joined the Sacramento Kings this past season. On top of coaching in the NBA, Kokoskov was the head coach of the Slovenian National Team.

During Kokoskov’s time in the NBA, he won an NBA Championship while he was with the Detroit Pistons in 2004.
