MLS Set To Return To Play In Orlando After New Collective Bargaining Agreement Finalized

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Major League Soccer Players Association today announced that they have come to an agreement with Major League Soccer regarding a new collective bargaining agreement “which will run through the 2025 season.”

“Today’s vote also finalizes a plan to resume the 2020 season and provides players with certainty for the months ahead,” the statement reads.

Although it does not specify what exactly the plan to action is regarding the 2020 season, it does state that there will be games played.

A lot of speculation has surrounded the concept of playing a tournament in Orlando, with the new CBA agreement, it seems likely that all 26 MLS teams will travel to Orlando and return to the pitch for the first time since the opening two weeks of the season.

The Orlando tournament is rumored to begin sometime in July.

Earlier in the week, it was reported that club owners were contemplating a league-wide lockout if the Players Association were unable to come to an agreement with the league regarding the new CBA. Fortunately, that did not eventuate. The players, owners and the league will now move forward to best provide entertainment for their beloved supporter groups and fans on the pitch.
