SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – If there’s one thing you need to know about BYU fans, don’t mess with their beloved mascot, Cosmo. Or you will hear it on Social Media.
SiriusXM made the poor decision releasing a 64-mascot bracket in hopes of crowning the best mascot in college sports. Cosmo was nowhere to be found in the field of 64. The omission left BYU fans and even athletic directors puzzled.
“Ummm … Credibility? You’re missing the BEST mascot in the country … Bar none,” said BYU athletic director Tom Holmoe on his social media.

Even rival athletic director Mark Harlan at the University of Utah chimed in. “I don’t know about the best, but even I agree @TomHolmoe Cosmo makes this field and has a good shot at the second weekend.”

After hearing the outrage from fans and administrators, SiriusXM placed Cosmo in a “Play-in” game against another 16-seed in Boston College. Cosmo rolled through Baldwin The Eagle in the fan voting and is now in a first-round matchup against Duke’s Blue Devil. BYU fans are rocking the vote again with Cosmo holding a commanding lead early in the voting.

It would be understandable if you had 64 mascots who were going viral everywhere you look, but that’s not happening. Name me a mascot that showed off dancing skills that had the nation shook? Show me a mascot who could dunk from the three-point line. There’s only one and it’s Cosmo.
Just look at some of BYU mascot Cosmo’s finest moments over the years. The masked Cougar is a legend that has done a variety of performances.
