SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The sports calendar void of any actual events right now could possibly change as early as May with a rematch between Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson, according to a report from CNBC.

Talks began at the end of March with a matchup similar to the pay-per-view event that happened in 2018. That Woods vs. Mickelson was a flop or a number of reasons, but in today’s climate, even non-golf fans would crave any type of live sports and be all for this.

Even with the issues of streaming the event last year, KSL’s UnRivaled’s Scott Mitchell and Alex Kirry are both 100 percent behind this idea and would love to see a rematch of Woods vs. Mickelson.

“We hated Tiger vs. Phil I, it was good television, it was not a good production and did not work for a lot of people which of why they ended up refunding a bunch of people,” Kirry said. “It worked for us and we didn’t like it. Yet, this [potential Tiger vs. Phil II] sounds so amazing right now.

“To give you a peek of where we are at, we are so desperate for this and the thing we already tested that we hated in Phil vs. Tiger I. If they do a Phil vs. Tiger II how excited I would be and I would pay $25 to $30 to watch a real live golf match.”

Everyone is thinking like this and right now all the public has for sports is rewatching classic events but that can only take people so their thirst for live sports.

Mitchell thinks the one thing that would make this event even better is if it were not a pay-per-view event and let everyone enjoy a brief few hours of live and meaningful sport on TV.

“The thing that would really put it over the top is if these guys did it for free,” Mitchell said. “If they just had an event and didn’t make any money off it. Let’s say they do a friendly wager for a birdie on a hole and all of the money should go to charity. None of this is about someone making money.”

To make things potentially even juicier is that there are reports that Tom Brady and Peyton Manning might join up to make this a foursome. That would make the conversation better since the prior event was pretty stale between Woods and Mickelson.

Adding two other personalities would make the event different and hopefully, there will be some fun football stories between Brady and Manning as they spend the day playing 18 holes.

This whole event could go toward a charity or help the so many people who have been furloughed or laid off of work, and it would give the public an escape with a live sporting event.
