NBA Places Photos Of Kobe Bryant, David Stern On All-Star Media Credentials

CHICAGO, Ill. – The NBA continues to find ways to honor the late Commissioner David Stern and Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant.

On the NBA All-Star weekend media credentials, the league placed a photo of both Stern and Bryant on the back of the media passes that they distributed to the NBA media.

During All-Star Saturday night festivities, former Miami Heat star Dwayne Wade and Los Angeles Sparks forward Candace Parker started the evening by having the crowd cheer for 24.2 seconds rather than a moment of silence to honor Bryant, his daughter Gianna along with David Stern.

Bryant and 8 others including his daughter died in a helicopter crash in Southern California on Sunday, January 26. Stern passed away on January 1 after suffering a brain hemorrhage that he suffered two weeks prior.

Before the All-Star Saturday night began, current NBA Commissioner Adam Silver announced that the league will rename the All-Star MVP award in honor of Kobe Bryant. It will be called the “Kobe Bryant MVP award.”

The NBA is honoring the life of Kobe Bryant and his daughter during the 2020 All-Star game in Chicago, Illinois. They will have Team LeBron led by Lakers star LeBron James wearing No. 2 on their uniforms to represent Gianna’s number.

Team Giannis led by Milwaukee Bucks star and reigning NBA MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo will wear No. 24 on their jersey’s to represent Bryant’s number that he wore for most of his career.

Also, the NBA is changing the format to the All-Star game with the winner of each quarter having money donated to the charity of that team. They will do that for the first three quarters. In the fourth quarter, they will add up the scores from the first three quarters and add on 24 points as the target score. The first team to reach that score will win the All-Star game
