Real Salt Lake Sign 21st Homegrown Player In Club History

SANDY, Utah – Real Salt Lake has signed, yet another, academy player. Forward Christopher Garcia became the 21st homegrown player to be signed by the first team.

“Chris is the latest in a long line of extremely talented players to come from our academy,” RSL General Manager Elliot Fall said. “He has already proven himself a standout academy performer and has been excellent when incorporated into professional training sessions. His technical ability and fantastic work rate give him an unlimited ceiling on his professional career.”
Garcia, 17, joined the RSL Academy prior to the 2018-19 season and has since recorded 18 goals in 38 games during his 30 starts. This season alone, Garcia has notched 7 goals in 6 matches during the 2019-20 U.S. Soccer Development Academy season.
On the current 2020 roster, RSL has 11 products of the RSL Academy- David Ochoa, Justen Glad, Aaron Herrera, Erik Holt, Donny Toia, Luis Arriaga, Corey Baird, Milan Iloski, Tate Schmitt, Julian Vasquez and now Christopher Garcia.
Garcia was born and raised in El Paso, Texas before moving to Utah to join the RSL Academy. He is currently listed as 5 feet 11 inches tall and 142 pounds. The RSL Academy is quickly becoming one of the finest developmental academies in North America, it continues to develop and sign young talent, turning them into professional’s at a very young age.
