Cody Barton Has Productive Outing In Seahawks Playoff Win Over Eagles

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Former Utah Utes and current Seattle Seahawks linebacker Cody Barton made the most of his opportunity to start in his first NFL Playoff game.

The rookie linebacker recorded 5 tackles, including one sack, a quarterback hit and two pass deflections.

13 players with local ties are moving on to the Divisional round with some already in that spot after their team received a first round bye. Three of the five former Utes are moving on to the next round after the Saints and Bills lost. Four of the six players that attended BYU are advancing, along with all four former Aggies are moving on. Both players that attended Weber State have been eliminated with the Eagles and Bills. The only Thunderbird that reached the postseason is moving on and the only player that attended high school in the state is advancing to the next round.

Here is how all of the players with ties to the state of Utah fared during the Wildcard Round of the NFL Playoffs.

Former Utes

Star Lotulelei, DT, Buffalo Bills (10-6)
Lotulelei had two tackles for the Bills in their 22-19 overtime loss to the Houston Texans in the Wildcard round.
Next Up: Season is over. Lotulelei has a potential out in his contract this off-season but has two years remaining.

Marcus Williams, S, New Orleans Saints (13-3)
Williams led the Saints with 10 tackles, including 5 solo tackles in the Saints’ 26-20 overtime loss to the Minnesota Vikings in the Wildcard round.
Next Up: Season is over. Williams will become a free agent this off-season.

Mitch Wishnowsky, P, San Francisco 49ers (11-5)
Wishnowsky and the 49ers received a first round bye after claiming the No. 1 seed in the NFC.
Next Up: NFC Divisional Round vs. Minnesota Vikings (10-6), Saturday at 2:35 p.m. on KSL TV.

Marquise Blair, S, Seattle Seahawks (11-5)
Blair played on special teams for the Seahawks in their 17-9 win over the Philadelphia Eagles in the Wildcard round.
Next Up: NFC Divisional Round at Green Bay Packers (13-3), Sunday at 4:40 p.m. on FOX.

Cody Barton, LB, Seattle Seahawks (11-5)
Barton started at linebacker and racked up 5 tackles, including one sack, a quarterback hit and two pass deflections in the Seahawks’ win over the Eagles in the Wildcard round.

Jamaal Williams, RB, Green Bay Packers (13-3)
Williams and the Packers received a first round bye after claiming the No. 2 seed in the NFC.

Daniel Sorensen, S, Kansas City Chiefs (12-4)
Sorensen and the Chiefs had a first round bye after claiming the No. 2 seed.
Next Up: 
AFC Divisional Round vs. Houston Texans (10-6), Sunday at 1:05 p.m. on CBS.

Kyle Van Noy, LB, New England Patriots (12-4)
Van Noy had five tackles, one sack and a forced fumble in the Patriots’ 20-13 loss to the Tennessee Titans in the Wildcard round.
Next Up: Season is over. Van Noy will become a free agent this off-season.

Taysom Hill, QB, New Orleans Saints (13-3)
Hill had a tremendous performance in the Saints’ 26-20 loss in overtime to the Minnesota Vikings in the Wildcard round. He went 1-1 passing for 50 yards, ran the ball 4 times for 50 yards and hauled in 2 catches for 25 yards and one touchdown.
Next Up: Season is over. Hill will be a restricted free agent this off-season.

Fred Warner, LB, San Francisco 49ers (13-3)
Wishnowsky and the 49ers received a first round bye after claiming the No. 1 seed in the NFC.
Next Up: 
NFC Divisional Round vs. Minnesota Vikings (10-6), Saturday at 2:35 p.m. on KSL TV.

Ezekiel Ansah, DE, Seattle Seahawks (11-5)
Ansah had one tackle and a quarterback hit before leaving the game with an injury. The Seahawks beat the Eagles in the Wildcard round.

Kyler Fackrell, LB, Green Bay Packers (13-3)

Robert Turbin, RB, Seattle Seahawks (11-5)
The former Aggie played in the Seahawks’ 17-9 win over the Philadelphia Eagles in the Wildcard round but did not record any stats.

Bobby Wagner, LB, Seattle Seahawks (11-5)
