SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – It’s Thanksgiving week, and that means it’s time we gather around the dinner table and discuss the things we’re most grateful for this time of year.

Of course, between the months of October and June, we should all be most thankful for NBA basketball, and the highlights that come with it.

This week, two of the top dunks come from small guards, Donovan Mitchell and Jrue Holiday, who finished over bigger forwards at the rim. Meanwhile, Kawhi Leonard obliterated the Celtics with a late-game finish.

Donovan Mitchell on Nicolo Melli

Donovan Mitchell is notorious for catching impossible lobs. His bounciness, arm length, and raw power make his finishes particularly impressive.

Most impressive about this dunk, he finishes over the much larger Nicolo Melli, after catching the lob pass. Teaming an alley-oop, with a poster is rarified air, especially from a 6’1” guard.

Mitchell continues to achieve the unimaginable.

Jrue Holiday on Nassir Little

Rookies get dunked on a lot.

It doesn’t matter if they have a strong defensive reputation like Nassir Little, they still routinely forget that nearly every NBA player has upper-echelon athleticism.

Here, Little gets his welcome poster to the NBA courtesy of New Orleans Pelicans guard Jrue Holiday who isn’t known as a frequent dunker.

Adding the spin move makes this even more special.

Kawhi Leonard on Daniel Theis

Some dunks are great because they feature world-class athleticism. Some are great because of the build-up to the dunk, featuring a fancy move off the dribble.

And some dunks are great because they feature two enormous human beings, meeting at the rim, with opposite intentions.

Here, Kawhi Leonard wanted to end Daniel Theis, while Theis wanted to embarrass Leonard. Leonard bested Theis and submitted an early favorite for dunk of the year.

Famous for his not-so-elaborative responses, Leonard detailed his dunking masterpiece to Clippers media after the game.
