CORVALLIS, Ore. – After Utah’s 52-7 win over the Oregon State Beavers on Saturday night, the Utes and quarterback Tyler Huntley is the only power-five school to have not thrown an interception this season.

They are one of three schools in the country to have not thrown a pick.

Huntley has attempted 133 passes this season and has yet to throw an interception.

Entering the game, Huntley joined Oregon State quarterback Jake Luton as the only two starters in the Pac-12 to have not thrown an interception. Luton threw a pass that was deflected by Utah defensive end Bradlee Anae which had the ball land into the hands of linebacker Devin Lloyd, who returned the interception 64-yards for a touchdown.

Huntley finished with 247 yards and two touchdowns, while completing 14 of his 17 pass attempts.

Here is the other two takeaways in the Crimson Corner “three point stance” from Utah’s win over Oregon State.

Utah Running Backs

The Utes were happy to have the services of Zack Moss again after the star running back missed the second half against USC and the entire matchup against Washington State with a shoulder injury. Moss only needed to run the ball five times to leave his mark in the game. He racked up 121 yards and two touchdowns, including a 91-yard run into the end zone.

That run was the longest of his career and the third longest run in Utah football history. Only Frank Nelson’s 93-yard run in 1947 against BYU and Steve Savoy’s 92-yard run against the Cougars in 2004 was longer.

Moss averaged 24.2 yards per carry and is now 55 yards away from passing Eddie Johnson as the all-time leader in career rushing yards in Utah football history. He now has six rushing touchdowns on the season and needs four more to pass Del Rodgers for the all-time leader in career rushing touchdowns.

The Utes rested Moss in the second half and let the younger running backs carry the load. True freshman Jordan Wilmore and sophomore Devin Brumfield each scored their first career rushing touchdown against Oregon State. Wilmore recorded 59 yards on the ground with 12 carries, while Brumfield had 10 rushing attempts for 37 yards.

Utes Elite Defense

Entering the game against Utah, Oregon State has been very successful this season running the football, racking up 203 yards per game on the ground, which was ranked 39th in the country and 4th in the Pac-12. The Utes held the Beavers to just 48 yards on 22 rush attempts. Sophomore running back Jermar Jefferson did not play against the Utes but Artavis Pierce was one of the top rushers in the conference before he faced Utah. He was held to 21 yards on 10 carries with 16 yards as his longest run of the game.

When Utah’s defense had their pick-six against Oregon State, it was their third this season. The other two were against BYU in the season opener when linebacker Francis Bernard ran in a 58-yard interception for a touchdown and safety Julian Blackmon had the second one that happened in the fourth quarter in Provo.

They were the only Pac-12 team to have an interception returned for a touchdown entering the game.

Utah will return home against No. 18 Arizona State on Saturday at 4 p.m. on the Pac-12 Network.
