SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Utah Women’s Basketball head coach Lynne Roberts said that the 2019-20 season “could be the best year we’ve had yet in the Pac-12.”

The Lady Utes reported for the upcoming season on Thursday, September 26.

Today’s the first day and I think we’ve got a lot of talent,” said Roberts during her season-opening press conference. “We’re young. We return some kids that have been injured. We bring it some fantastic freshman so I think that right now we’re cautiously optimistic that this could be the best year we’ve had yet in the Pac-12.”

“Players are ready. They’re sick of conditioning. They’re sick of the weight room. They’re ready to get out here and get going so there’s kind of that you have to hold them back a little bit cause by February they’re kind of looking at you like would you please stop talking. So we’re trying to hold them back but everyone’s excited and we’re off to the races,” said Roberts.

Utah has three seniors on this year’s squad. Kiana Moore, Zuzanna Puc, and Daneesha Provo are all in their final year of eligibility. The team is adding three freshmen to the roster this season.

The Utes announced their full 2019-20 schedule which included 15 home games at the Jon M. Huntsman Center. Utah plays 18 regular season Pac-12 conference games as well.

Utah begins conference play on Sunday, December 29 at 2 p.m. (MDT) when they host the Colorado Buffaloes.

“We’re in the best conference in the country for women’s basketball and that’s not my opinion that’s statistically shown. There was a preseason WNBA draft prediction of the top ten draft picks… six of the top ten were from the Pac-12,” said Roberts.

The head coach continued her remarks by highlighting the Utes’ ability to sell recruits to not only playing in the Pac-12 but playing in Utah.

The team begins the season on October 31 at 11 a.m. (MDT) when they host Westminster at the Huntsman Center.

Season tickets are available for general admission ($25) and floor seats ($100). Tickets can be purchased at UtahTickets.com or by calling 801-581-UTIX.
