Jazz Finish Summer League With Loss To Hornets

LAS VEGAS, Nev. – The Utah Jazz ended their Summer League with an 84-74 loss to the Charlotte Hornets at Cox Pavilion in Las Vegas, Nevada.

George King led the way with 20 points and 5 rebounds, Josh Sharma added 12 points and 5 boards and Stanton Kidd chipped in 10 points.

The Jazz were competitive throughout despite missing six key players on the Summer League roster that included:

• Jarrell Brantley – right hamstring tightness
• Tony Bradley – right great toe soreness
• Tre’Shaun Fletcher – left hamstring soreness
• William Howard – right groin soreness
• Isaiah Cousins – left big toe soreness
• Justin Wright-Foreman – not with team (personal reasons)

They scored just nine points in the first seven minutes of the game. They were trailing significantly in the first half before improving their play in the second half by outscoring the Hornets 44-30.

As a team, Utah finished the game shooting 37 percent from the field and 25 percent from downtown.

Kennedy Meeks scored 18 points and pulled down 10 rebounds to lead the Hornets, Dwayne Bacon contributed 11 points, Isaiah Hicks had 10 points and Miles Bridges posted 8 points.

Utah will head back to Salt Lake after getting 2 wins in Salt Lake City Summer League and 2 more wins in Las Vegas and 1 loss in SLC and 3 losses in NBA Summer League. The Jazz will gather in September for training camp and the season will begin in October. The schedule should be released in August.
