SANDY, Utah – LAFC and Real Salt Lake got into a heated moment at the start of the second half after a physical play by RSL’s Donny Toia.
Toia clotheslined LAFC’s Latif Blessing and was immediately given a yellow card for the reckless play. Blessing’s teammates took exception to the play and a few shoves from both sides were given to the other as LAFC expressed its displeasure with the incident.
No further yellow cards or discipline were given and play resumed a few seconds later.

LAFC led after the first half thanks to a goal by its leading scorer, Carlos Vela, in the eighth minute. RSL remained in striking range thanks to a couple of solid stops by Nick Rimando.
RSL took the pitch without the guidance of head coach Mike Petke, who was away from the team receiving a coaching certificate in Minnesota.
The home team was also without the services of usual starters Albert Rusnak and Jefferson Savarino, who are both away on international duty.
