OGDEN, Utah – Salem Hills and Desert Hills advanced to the semifinals in the prep baseball 4A state tournament with victories in the quarterfinals on Wednesday.
Playing in the picturesque Lindquist Field, home of the Ogden Raptors of Minor League Baseball’s Pioneer League, the two teams set up a matchup in the final game of the unbeaten teams in the tournament.
Salem Hills Blows Away Lehi
The Skyhawks began the day with a resounding 11-1 victory over Lehi that ended in the fifth inning due to the run rule. Salem Hills was led by pitcher Easton Keck, who was essentially unhittable, starting the game by allowing no runs in the first four innings.
Keck’s strong start on the mound gave room for the Skyhawks offense to do plenty of damage at bat. In the second inning, Kyle Coburn’s 3-RBI triple broke the game open and from there it was a rout to the end.
Final Score SH 11 Lehi 1 Next game Friday at 4:30 at Lindquist in Ogden.

While Desert Hills didn’t blow away their opponent, the Thunder still got the job done with a 5-2 win over Spanish Fork in the second game of the afternoon.
The Thunder were led by the bat of Drew Thorpe, who had three RBIs in the game. His teammate Landon Levine also brought a runner home with a solo-homer in the fourth inning.
