SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Houston Rockets overtook the Utah Jazz in the third quarter of Game 4 thanks to terrific shooting from beyond the arc.

The Jazz led at halftime, 53-47 before the Rockets got hot from downtown, making 8-of-12 3-point attempts in the third quarter alone.

In the first three quarters combined, Houston made threes at a 17-for-33 clip which equates to a phenomenal 51.5 percent.

Houston’s trio of James Harden, Eric Gordon and PJ were especially lethal from the 3-point land. Going into the fourth quarter, Harden already had six made triples on 10 attempts, while Gordon was 5-for-7 and Tucker was 3-for-4 from downtown.

By comparison, the Jazz were 8-for-26 for three going into the final quarter. Jae Crowder had the team-high mark in makes with a 3-for-8 success rate while Royce O’Neale was 2-for-4.

Throughout the regular season, the Rockets led the league in 3-pointers made per game. Their mark of 16.1 makes per game was over three makes more than the next-best team, the Milwaukee Bucks. The Jazz had the ninth-best mark in the NBA with 12.9 makes per game.

In each of the first three games of the series, Houston made more 3-pointers and shot the deep ball at a much better clip than the Jazz, something that has been devastating to Utah in falling into an 0-3 hole.

At the end of the third quarter, the Rockets led 79-76 of the possible elimination game for the Jazz.

Game 4 between Utah and Houston is being broadcast on TNT.
