Thunderbirds Surprise Weber State With Overtime Win, 90-82

OGDEN, Utah – The SUU Thunderbirds picked up a big road win in Big Sky Conference play with a 90-82 overtime win over Weber State.

The first half was highly competitive as both teams traded baskets nearly the whole first 20 minutes. Neither team was able to build a lead of more than four as the Thunderbirds took a slim 32-30 lead into the break.
With the game knotted up at 59-all with less than six minutes remaining, the Wildcats took a late advantage with a 68-62 lead after a made 3-pointer by Cody John.
The Thunderbirds responded with a 8-2 run to finish the half, capped by a pair of free throws by Dre Marin to tie the game up at 70-all with 23 seconds remaining.

The Wildcats took a timeout to set up the final play and had two looks at a winning basket. Jerrick Harding missed a jumper which was rebounded and attempted to be put back by Zach Braxton. Both shots were missed and the game was sent to overtime.
In the extra period, SUU outscored the Wildcats 20-12 to grab the Thunderbirds’ first Big Sky win of the season after a 0-3 start. It was also the first conference loss of the season for Weber State.

Marin, Cameron Oluyitan and Andre Adams all finished with 18 points for SUU. Adams added 11 rebounds to complete the double-double.
Weber State was led by Harding, who turned in a game-high 27 points.
Next Up
SUU will host Northern Arizona on next Saturday at 2 p.m.
Weber State will head to face Portland State on the road next Saturday at 8:05 p.m.
