SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. – The Weber State Wildcats pulled out a big week 12 win over the Cal Poly Mustangs, 48-21, on Saturday.

Weber State QB Richie Munoz had a monster game. He posted 329 yards and five touchdowns while completing 21 of his 27 passes.

First Half

First Quarter

The first quarter was all offense at Mustang Memorial Field.

Cal Poly started with the ball and quickly moved down the field.

QB Sam Huard found Michael Otterstedt to put the home team up early.

Weber State only needed 5 plays and two minutes to respond.

Jacob Sharp and Treyshun Hurry caught two passes for 40 yards as the Wildcats tied the game at 7.

Cal Poly was motivated to get their lead back and a 45-yard pass to Dominique Thompson did just that.

With 50 seconds on the clock, Weber State came back with its own long touchdown pass to cap off a hectic first quarter.

Second Quarter

Both defenses stepped up in the second.

The Wildcats intercepted Huard and the Mustangs on the first play after the break.

Jalon Rock pulled down the pick to give Weber State possession.

The Wildcats took five minutes to drive down the field where they nailed a 19-yard field goal to take a 17-14 lead.

Neither team could put anything together on their next drive.

After picking up a first down, the Cal Poly quarterback fumbled and a pack of Wildcats jumped on it for the second Mustang turnover of the quarter.

Weber State turned a turnover into three points again with a 41-yarder.

Cal Poly entered its two-minute offense and got into field goal range with less than 30 seconds on the clock.

The Mustangs missed the 23-yard kick and the half concluded.

Weber State led by six, 20-14.

Second Half

Third Quarter

The Wildcats started the second half with the ball and immediately got to work.

A balanced run and pass attack allowed Weber State to make it over 80 yards to the goal line.

Richie Munoz punched it in to give the Wildcats a two-possession lead.

On the other end, linebacker Jack Kelly reeled in an interception of his own.

Weber State continued to capitalize off turnovers and made it into the end zone for the fourth time.

Munoz found Jacob Sharp for six at the end of the third quarter.

Fourth Quarter

Cal Poly went three-and-out again to start the final quarter.

A 19-yard pass play put Weber State in scoring position right after the punt.

Munoz and Sharp looked like a dynamic duo in the second half as they connected again for a 24-yard touchdown.

The Wildcats cracked open the game and took a 41-14 lead.

The Mustangs would make it into Weber State territory on their next drive.

The Wildcats held strong to force a turnover on downs and it took just three plays for them to find the end zone on offense.

Munoz looked down the field again and threw a 52-yard bomb to Jayleen Record for six.

Cal Poly would go on to score one final touchdown.

Weber State improved to 6-5 with the blowout win over Cal Poly.
